IMG Legal Action led by BAPIO (British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin)

International Medical Graduates in the UK who are either already in training programmes or those who have passed PLAB and are waiting for jobs are marching in protest of the new change in Immigration rules which requires a work permit for taking up or continuing in a training post. This affects all IMGs and is totally unfair since it comes into effect from July 2006

Name: IMG Protest March
Location: United Kingdom

We are International Medical Graduates, who have passed PLAB, and are trying to get fair treatment. Many of us are already here in the UK and are in training posts, but are being treated unequally

PPUDs and Protest

Dear friends, I wish to clarify my and BAPIO's stance in this issue. We are of the opinion that the conduct of the Department of health is morally and ethically wrong.I feel for the PPUD's more than any one else. If we can achieve something for the PPUD's, then everyone else wins. What any one and everyone write on indigo or energy should not be considered as theofficial stance of BAPIO.At the end of the day what we will achieve is not in our hands at all.We can only try.Let us all meet at the Peaceful demonstration on: Friday the 21st of April at 11.30 in front of Richmond house, Dept.of Health (Richmond House is located at 79 Whitehall, London,SW1A 2NL). Nearest tube Westminster. I request all of you to be there by 11 am.Please do motivate your friends also to come for the demonstration. This will be a demonstration of doctors that Britain has never beforeseen. There will be a lot of PPUD's, and junior doctors who willcome for the demonstration. I would not say that all consultants wouldcome for our demonstration. But there are a lot of them who havepromised to come for the demonstration. The bigger the crowd for the demonstration the bigger will be thepressure on Department of health to do something useful.Hoping to meet you all on the 21st, Long live BAPIO. Dr Satheesh Mathew
